Set on 779m², this is a classic Wayne Gillespie home, and most people who know me know I'm a bit of a Wayne Gillespie fan.

Why? Because he's one of those rare architects who can take exactly the same measurements as everyone else and somehow produce something that looks and feels considerably better. This home is no different.

The question is, do you like Wayne Gillespie? If you don't, why not?

For me, this is an effortless classic in a great location. The orientation is excellent, the build quality is strong, and the whole home has a wonderful sense of proportion and flow. It's a very comfortable house that just works.

The bedrooms are upstairs, the living areas downstairs, and there's a basement that actually serves a purpose. Nothing feels overly complicated or forced. It's simple, practical and beautifully executed.

The only real negative for me is the absence of a lift. According to the agent, the home is more than 25 years old, so that's understandable given when it was built. There is also some scope to update, but the fundamentals are excellent.

I inspected another Wayne Gillespie home in Toorak last week, and while both are terrific examples of his work, I think this one probably has the edge for a variety of reasons.

What I particularly like is that these homes have a timeless quality. Good architecture doesn't date in the same way other homes do, and Wayne Gillespie has always understood how to make a home feel special without trying too hard.

For me, this is a beautiful home with strong fundamentals, a terrific orientation and a layout that will continue to work for years to come. There are a few things missing from perfection, but very little that would put me off.
