An unusual offering in the sense of this is a fairly plain home in what is basically a street of different period homes.
Barrington Avenue is regarded as one of Kew's better streets and this part of Kew is within walking distance of the Glenferrie Road tram spine for Malvern to Kew schools. As well not too far away from other schools such as Carey and Camberwell Grammar. Shops are also walking distance or a short tram ride; depending on you.
However, I am not so sure this will be bought by a family considering schools, as it will also be of interest to singles/couples (low maintenance), renovators and resellers (needs an update), downsizers (single level) and entry level buyers (how many Kew family opportunities below $3m are there?)
The home itself offers flexibility - it is very rentable and liveable as is or live in a for a while and in time renovate or bulldoze (STCA -it is a form of Heritage). Currently the building is unremarkable but it is practicable and feels like it gives you a number of alternatives. Renovate or bulldoze alternatives in equal proportions depending on your desired outcomes.
